Teacher files slip and fall lawsuit against school

A teacher is suing Sioux Trail Elementary School in Burnsville after she slipped and fell on a patch of ice in the school parking lot. The accident occurred in January of last year when the woman was dropping her young child off for day care.

The woman is seeking $50,000 for her past and future pain and suffering as well as past and future medical expenses; she claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries as a result of her fall. According to the Minnesota Department of Education, the woman is a third grade teacher at the elementary school where she slipped and fell.

The lawsuit claims Sioux Trail Elementary was negligent when it failed to maintain its property and allowed a dangerous condition to exist.
