Pro-boxer seriously injured in icy car accident

A 20 year-old boxer and his 21 year-old sister were involved in a serious car accident this weekend in a multi-car pile up on the icy Bronx Expressway.

The 20 year-old man was the winner of prestigious Golden Gloves Championship and narrowly missed a spot on the U.S. 2012 Olympic team. Both were thrown seventy-five feet from a overpass when a car started spinning out of control on the black ice and struck them.

His sister, who was also the mother of a young son, died on the way to the hospital. The man is currently in a coma and in intensive car. Relatives say they do not know if he will survive. Fourteen other people were injured in the nine-car pile up.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victims.
