Workers compensation organization in Minnesota gets a new name

A workers’ compensation organization in Minnesota recently got a new name as they celebrated their 43rd anniversary, an article by the Brainerd Dispatch reported on January 24.

Formerly known as the Minnesota Self-Insurers’ Association (MSIA), the Minnesota Employers Workers Compensation Alliance (MEWCA) is committed to making sure businesses in the state stay competitive and to ensuring that assistance is given to injured workers. In connection with the name change that took effect on January 1, MEWCA will now allow any Minnesota employers that have an interest in a workers’ compensation system, even for those who self-insure, to join as members.

MEWCA president Sandra Bodensteiner said the new name has paved a way to further improve the workers’ compensation system in a way that will benefit both employers and workers.
