Tyson Foods facing $263K worth of fine over serious workplace accident
America’s largest poultry processing company, Tyson Foods is being ordered to settle a fine of over $263,000 after one of their poultry workers sustained a serious injury at a Tyson facility in Texas, an article of workday Minnesota reported on August 21.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reportedly conducted an investigation after a worker’s finger got amputated while near an unprotected conveyor belt of a deboning machinery. OSHA later found out that from February until July of this year, Tyson had committed 15 serious safety violations in their workplace. According to reports, serious workplace safety violations were not new to Tyson Foods after they were accused in a recent Government Accountability Office report. Tyson Foods workplaces were determined to be dangerous nearly three years ago.
