Companies involved in fatal U.S. Bank Stadium accident facing fine
After being cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), a U.S. Bank Stadium contractor and subcontractor are facing fines amounting to $173,400 in connection to last year’s accident that killed one worker and injured another, an article of Star Tribune reported on June 16.
Mortenson Construction and Berwald Roofing facilitated the construction of the new Minnesota Vikings stadium. During the construction process, Jeramie Gruber, 35, and another worker, accidentally fell from the building while working in August. Gruber died as a result of his injuries and the other worker sustained serious injuries after they fell and slid off the roof due to the company’s safety violations. OSHA did not detail the citations that were considered “willful” and “serious” safety violations the two companies committed.
