Fan dies during Vikings vs. Texans football game
A 45-year-old Houston, Texas, man died on Thursday night during a football game between the Houston Texans and the Minnesota Vikings after he fell approximately 60 feet down an escalator.
Witnesses say they saw him traveling down the fifth floor escalators when he suddenly fell to the ground at Reliant Stadium in Houston. He was supposedly attempting to slide down the escalator railing. Medical teams tried to stabilize him before he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died.
According to Fox Sports, Reliant Stadium has staff members at every escalator landing for safety precautions. Reliant officials are treating the fan’s death as an accident and say they plan on reviewing safety procedures.
