Maplewood construction worker fatally injured at workplace
A worker operating a crane at a construction site in Maplewood recently died after the heavy equipment he was operating tipped, a report from the Pioneer Press stated.
According to reports, the accident occurred near St. Paul Hmong Alliance Church on the afternoon of Monday, October 18 when Cory Lewellin became trapped inside the cab of a crane after it accidentally toppled. Lewellin was extracted from the half submerged crane enclosure with the help of other workers and responding rescuers.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
The Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration said they are going to investigate and review the details of the accident to determine what the cause of the fatal incident was.
