Minnesota recorded its first fatal workplace accident for the year 2017

A major malt supplier located in Minnesota is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) after one of their employees died in an accident while in the workplace, an article of CBS Minnesota reported on January 3.

According to reports, the accident happened in the facility of Rahr Malting Company on January 2. Responding rescuers reportedly found the worker’s body in a grain bin after he accidentally fell. The victim, who was only identified as a 58-year-old resident of South St. Paul had been working for the company for three months when the mishap happened, company officials said. OSHA agents the following day open a probe to figure out if the company committed workplace safety violations. Documents revealed that OSHA last inspected Rahr in 2009 and it also showed that the company had been cited previously for workplace violations.
