On April 28, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) commemorated workers who were injured or lost their lives while working on roadway construction zones with Workers’ Memorial Day held at the Chaska Truck Station..
According to MnDOT information technology specialist Judi Holloway, remembering workers who were killed on duty is important for the department and to the people of Minnesota, as well. Since 1960, there have been at least 33 MnDOT workers killed while on the job. Road workers in the state are at high risk of suffering serious and fatal injuries due to thousands of workplace crashes recorded in the last four years.
